Whipped Buttercream Frosting

If you’ve ever been frustrated with the texture of wiltons buttercream frosting then you are exactly where you need to be!

I’ve got it! The secret ingredient that takes regular buttercream frosting to the next level. Tastes better, and texture is lighter and softer.  It’s heavy whipping cream.

But beware, you may like it so much that you overdo it. This can make cake decorating a bit difficult. But don’t worry, once you figure out your desired consistency you won’t ever have to worry about it again.

Use it along with this orange cake recipe or marsh mellow fondant.

Buttercream Frosting

1 cup shortening

1 cup butter

1 Tb vanilla

8 cups powdered sugar

2 to 5 Tb heavy whipping cream

Cream together butter, shortening and vanilla. Gradually mix in powdered sugar. Add heavy whipping cream 1 Tb at a time until desired consistency. Let it whip for 3 to 5 minutes to allow the heavy cream to lighten the frosting. Use immediately, refrigerate for later, even freeze it. YUM!
